Some times we are very afraid that children will fall and may get hurt if they climb on trees and on unstructured play area. But actually if we let them they grow better judgement and also grow better physically and socially. As well as they develop other skills such as cognitive, motor, asthetics, social and emotional and develop language also. Their hearing and visual skills develop as well. It is proven that children who spend more time out doors get better grades in school and are less stressed.
Started this blog during my Masters program. I strongly believe bringing children back to Nature can bring Happiness and peace to the world. It can even make our lives more stress free.

Vegetable Garden
Children are enjoying their project of growing vegtables and picking cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden for their snack and lunch. They do like to take them home as well. Children are also getting better in trying different vegetables and fruits as well as developing taste for those fruits and vegetables they did not like to try earlier. I am amazed how much they care for their garden by showing responsibility of their turn to water and picking weeds from the garden. They are alsovery observant about the bugs and worms in the garden. They do observe about the sizes of vegetables of same kind. Thier learning skills in all aspects are really developing at high rate.

Trip to Whole Foods
Children were excited and curious to learn about different vegetables and fruits. How they come to stores and why we have to buy them and do not grow them all at home. All children asked several questions, as weworked on our vegetable garden in the back yard. Now children love to pick up vegetables and learning to make healthy choices of food. Together we made a list of questions and went to whole foods to find the answers to our questions.
Questions they asked...
1. Why vegetables and fruits are healthy?
2. How all vegatables and fruits taste different?
3.How does the farmers grow sooooo many vegetables and fruits?
4. How they bring it to the farmer's market and stores.
5.Why people do not grow what they want in their houses?
6.I want o try some different fruits and vegetables ,how do they taste. ( some kids wanted to try).
They asked the workers at Whole food their questions and they very gently and patiently answered their questions. Then i asked the manager for the tour of store ,because children want to know and satisfy their curiosity. Manager sent agirl worker with us who was very knowledgeable of the store's working and opretional systems. She was gentle with children and satisfied them very well. even she did let them taste some of the exotic fruits and vegtables. Children got ballons and stickers as token of appreciation from whole foods.

Importance of Father's involvement in the life of children.
As June approaches we talk about Father's day and the importance of Fatherly figure in the lives of a child. Some children belong to a single parent, and we do not want them to feel left out or sad for not having fathers in their lives. It is important for rest of the male figures in the life of that child to help them feel confident and cared for.As in our care i admire the involvement of Fathers who play with children ,read them stories and help them do certain stuff that seems hard to children to acomplish. So in June we did Feild trips to parks, zoo, picnic in back yard and story reading with grand pa's and Dads.I appreciate all the involment of fathers and supporting us in helping children grow appropriately according to their developmental stage, emotionally and physically.

Daddies helping moms at the zoo. It makes children learn how boys should be helping girls in life and also it teaches them about a healthy family life. If both parents are there for the child and share reponsibilities of life, children learn to better citizens.

Bare- Feet Project
Children and I were talking about families, as all living things have families. Human family, animals have families, bugs, birds, fish, dinasours and plants have families and they all have parents too. Children wanted to learn about the habitats of different animals, we googled all questions they asked, why bunnies and other animals hybernate? what does snails like to eat? why snakes do not have feet? doesn't animals feet hurt when they walk bare feet? As we do use technology while staying close to Nature, and learn and explore Nature by being in touch with Nature physically and use technology where we cannot reach.
Tom was first little reluctant to put feet in water, but once he did he enjoyed the feel of water and felt relaxed.
Balancing is fun. Children enjoying the balancing game. They move forward on beam and sideways, and observe how does it moves up and down with weight.
So we decided to go out bare feet and have a feel of walking bare feet, and understand how careful animals are. And why their feet are harder underneath? and different animals have different kind of feet, like deers have hooves, bunnies have feet. we googled all kind of feet to have the concept of different kind of feet. Children liked the project and grouped the animals in different families, like human family, Cat family, dinasour family, Reptile family, Rodent family, Dog Family etc---- They enjoyed recognizing which animal belong to which family. Our Bare Feet walk, in our secret garden was a success, they walked over the grass, dirt, gravel, mulch, climbed trees, walked through water stream, over the cemented area, and lastly over the slides. They were very excited sharing their barefeet walk experience with parents, as well as explaining me how they felt. As well as their balancing experience on the beam.
Children observed squirrels walking on electric wires and asked how the walk so fast and balance. So we talked about balancing and Children saw a wood beam in our vegetable garden and started balancingon it.
